Team 2 : Transmissible diseases, health system

Team 2, which associates researchers from INSERM, IRD, ORS and Universities , is active in four research areas related to HIV and other infectious diseases in both developed and developing countries:

  • Measuring the socio-behavioural and economic impact of Highly Active Antiretroviral therapies for people living with HIV/AIDS
  • Evaluating alternative strategies for scaling-up access to HIV/AIDS treatment in developing countries
  • Studying co-morbidities associated with (tuberculosis, HCV, drug addiction behaviours)
  • Assessing efficiency, equity and quality of care in healthcare systems in developing countries.

These approaches are carried out through combination and cross-validation of both qualitative (interviews, case studies, participative observation) and /or quantitative methods using longitudinal or cross-sectional surveys. They give rise to collaborative work with international organisations (e.g. World Bank, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, World Health Organisation)
